Terms of service

Last updated: May 2026

These terms govern use of the safe-plate.io website and the SafePlate platform. They form a contract between you and SafePlate Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.

01Website use

Visiting safe-plate.io is free and open. You may use the site for any lawful purpose. You may not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at scale, or use it to harm others. We reserve the right to block IP addresses or accounts that breach these limits.

02The SafePlate platform

Use of the SafePlate platform, meaning the dashboard, POS integrations, kitchen display and APIs, is governed by a separate Master Services Agreement signed at the start of a paid engagement or pilot. The MSA covers service levels, uptime, support response times, data processing, sub-processors, intellectual property, liability caps and termination.

A copy of the MSA template is available on request. Operators do not access the platform under a click-wrap agreement; we sign a real contract before going live.

03Pilot programmes

Pilot operators receive the platform free for an agreed pilot period, typically four months, under a separate Pilot Agreement. The Pilot Agreement covers the scope of the pilot, the data we collect, the public-reference rights we ask for, and the conversion path to a paid subscription. Pilots do not auto-convert; the operator decides at the end of the pilot.

04Acceptable use of the platform

The platform is licensed to the operator for use in venues operated by the operator or by group entities under common control. Sub-licensing, white-labelling or reselling the platform requires a separate written agreement.

The operator is responsible for the accuracy of the menu and ingredient data they upload. SafePlate cannot detect a wrong ingredient list, and our liability for incidents arising from inaccurate operator data is excluded to the extent permitted by law.

05Intellectual property

The SafePlate platform, source code, brand assets and documentation are owned by SafePlate Ltd. Operators receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the platform during their subscription.

Operator data, including menu data, ingredient data, customer profiles and audit records, remains the property of the operator at all times.

Aggregated, anonymised platform metrics may be used by SafePlate for product development and benchmarking. No operator-identifying data leaves the operator’s tenancy.

06Liability

SafePlate is a control layer that reduces the probability of allergen incidents. It does not eliminate them. We provide the platform on an “as is” basis except where our MSA specifies otherwise. Our aggregate liability under any contract is capped at 12 months of fees paid under that contract, except for liability that cannot be excluded by UK law.

Nothing in these terms or the MSA excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

07Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
